📝 Weighted Grade Calculator
Calculate your course grade based on weighted assignments.
Understanding Weighted Grades
Most courses calculate your final grade based on the weighted average of your assignments, quizzes, exams, etc. This means some components contribute more to your final score than others.
- Weight (%): Represents how much each assignment contributes to the total course grade. All weights should ideally add up to 100%.
- Grade (%): The score you received on that specific assignment.
- Calculation: The calculator multiplies each assignment's grade by its weight, sums these values, and then divides by the total weight considered to find your current weighted average. Formula:
Sum(Grade * Weight) / Sum(Weight)
.
Using This Calculator
- Use the "Add Assignment" button to create rows for each graded item in your course.
- Enter the Grade (%) and Weight (%) for each assignment you've completed. The assignment name is optional.
- Click "Calculate Final Grade" to see your current weighted average and corresponding letter grade.
- To find the grade needed on a final:
- Enter all your *current* grades and weights above.
- In the "Calculate Grade Needed" section, enter your Desired Course Grade (%) and the Weight (%) of the final exam/assignment.
- Click "Calculate Needed Grade".
Note: If the total weight of entered assignments is less than 100%, the "Calculate Final Grade" result shows your current standing based on completed work. The "Calculate Needed Grade" function assumes the final assignment's weight makes up the difference to 100% (or more, if extra credit is possible).
