What is Morse Code?
Morse code is a method used in telecommunication to encode text characters as standardized sequences of two different signal durations, called dots (·) and dashes (–). It was developed for telegraphy and is famously associated with SOS (... --- ...
). Each letter, number, and punctuation mark has a unique sequence.
How to Use the Translator
- Text to Morse (Default):
- Enter or paste text into the "Text Input" box.
- The corresponding Morse code appears in the "Morse Code Output" box.
- Letters within a word are separated by a single space.
- Words are separated by a forward slash (
/
).
- Morse to Text:
- Click the "⇅ Swap" button. The input fields switch roles.
- Enter or paste Morse code into the "Morse Input" box. Use dots (
.
), dashes (-
), single spaces between letters, and forward slashes (/
) between words. - The translated text appears in the "Text Output" box.
- Invalid Morse sequences will be represented by a question mark (
?
).
- Copying: Use the "Copy Output" button to copy the content of the output box (either Morse or Text, depending on the mode).
